I am having my marriage blessed on the 25th of this month my husband is a catholic and I am not (YET) I am going through RCIA this fall. Im unsure if this will be an issue… I spoke with the priest at my church and he didnt really mention it he was just more eager to get our marriage blessed.

PS what is the term they use for that Is it Convalidated or something else?

Congrats on having your marriage convalidated. I think you are right, that is the term, and it is a better one than the more commonly held term of blessed. As your husband was Catholic at the time of the marriage, he should have been married in the Church, or had it witnessed by a priest or deacon, or been dispensed from doing either by the bishop. If he did none of the above then the marriage is not yet valid in the eyes of the Church. The fact that you are not (yet :)) Catholic doesn’t affect the convalidation, and will make things easier for you in RCIA, as it will no longer be an impediment to you being received into the Church, which it otherwise would have been, to my understanding.

God bless you and your husband.

There are different processes for different circumstances, however Convalidation is the most common. The Pastors concern is getting your husband (actually husband-to-be) back to the Sacraments ASAP.

Why are you waiting until the fall? Are you not a Baptized Christian?

congratulations, muey romantico, but you should not be going through with something you do not understand. It is your right to have the entire process, and the reason for it explained to you. Please ask your pastor to spend adequate time preparing you both for this ceremony, and explaining how this fits into the timeline for RCIA.

No I am not baptized at all that is why I am going through the RCIA process in the fall …I have decided that I need to sit down with the priest and talk with him as I have many questions I need answered. My husband and My children are all baptized catholics I am the only one that is not…

Your Marriagewill be validated as a non-Sacramental Marriage, and will become a Sacramental Marriage at the moment of your Baptism at the Easter Vigil. The Church only Baptizes adults ay the Easter Vigil. (unless special circumstances make it necessary before that time).
