Marriage culture called key to stable middle class

Although Americans spend $50 billion a year on weddings, a large segment of the population is making an exodus from the institution, says a new report from a family-values think tank.

The disappearance of marriage in “middle America” is tracking with the disappearance of the middle class in the same communities, and “strikes at the very heart of the American Dream,” scholars Elizabeth Marquardt, David Blankenhorn, Robert I. Lerman, Linda Malone-Colon and W. Bradford Wilcox said in a paper released Sunday.

“Fathers matter, and they matter for everybody. We don’t have certain classes of children for whom [having a father] doesn’t matter,” she said.

She reports this as we are supporting gay marriage in state after state. Interesting.

Very sad.

The doctors, accountants and teachers in our society today are living the types of lives that a 100 years ago would have only been seen amoung criminals and individuals with whom you wouldn’t even want to associate with.

Look at even how upper middle class women dress in our society today… compare that to how the “prostitutes” dressed in the old western movies (I think it’s safe to say that even prostitues dressed less obscenely back in those days). Look at the acceptance and expectation of pre-marital sex, sodomy and absolutely disgusting lifestyle choices that we see in our universities who are putting out the future leaders of our society.

This is how a civilization dies.
