Supporters of traditional marriage in Michigan yesterday turned in some 475,000 signatures — far more than the 317,000 needed — to put a state constitutional amendment before the voters in November.

The measure, which defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman, is intended to block efforts to legalize same-sex “marriage” in the state.

“The people responded,” Marlene Elwell, president of Citizens for the Protection of Marriage, said yesterday. “They’re tired of politicians and activist judges making changes without having a voice. This gives them a voice.”

Pray the Rosary… It worked for Bernadette Suberois… Our Lady asked her to pray the Rosary so people would turn back to God… It worked for 3 small children at Fatima… try it… what have you got to loose… Remember the Holy Ghost will change the hearts of men… you and I can but offer our prayers…

What happens if it goes up for an amendment, and is defeated? Will Ms. Elwell be as happy that the majority of people had a voice?

It is not likely to be defeated. The voting public tends to be more conservative than judges. Even if someone is not against same sex “marriage” on moral grounds they may be against having to approve govt. benefits for such unions, survivors benifits ect. It is not a good idea on financial grounds for state budgets that are already tight. I am not saying this is my reason for being opposed I am saying it is one more reason people will vote against it.

Having said that we still need to pray hard because the moral consequences are huge.
