Hi there

So my wife and I have been civilly married for a year now, and had been planning on taking marriage prep courses next fall to get our marriage convalidated. However, as it often does life has thrown a curveball into things and my health has begun to fail rather quickly, at age 43 with the last two months I’ve been told I’m diabetic (With kidney and liver issues) and now have a rather serious case of AFib… Scary times

Now here’s the thing, can the Arch Bishop dispense with the requirement of these classes or allow the marriage to be convaliddated with the expectation that we will attend these classes? We have no problem with the classes however with my health being what it is right now and the “You never know”" Element hanging over our heads I would really like to get this done. My wife and while married for a year have been together for three and she does wish to enter the church as well

Thoughts?
Thanks

Sit down and talk to your pastor. This is a pastoral decision.

Prayers for your medical issues!

Thank you for your replies … This afternoon i received a email from the Vicar of Marriages for the Arch Diocese confirming that he had dispensed with the marriage prep class requirement for us . Now on to contact our Church and start the ball rolling

Thanks again
