Can a Catholic and a non-baptized person be married in the Chuch?
Can you tell me where you get this information. I thought that was correct but wanted to know where to look to know for sure. Thanks.Yes, but the Catholic must get a dispension first.

Nice try. It was looking for a little more that that, thanks anyway. The Catechism of the Catholic Church.
You can find it in a religious store or read it at www.vatican.va
Thanks. I appreciate that answer.I can verify the response, as my wife is a non-baptized person. We were married in the Church (in a church), and we had a “Disparity of Cult” to do so. I didn’t even know we needed such a thing or that one was gotten for us. It wasn’t until several years later when I heard of the necessity of this permission that I asked. Low and behold, the priest took care of it and never said a thing. He told me that in most cases priests don’t comment on this type of paperwork to the couple. They just take care of it.
See Canon # 1086. Such a marriage is not permitted, however the local bishop may dispense from the impediment and allow the marriage to go forward. Can a Catholic and a non-baptized person be married in the Chuch?
So if they get the dispensation from the local bishop they can be married in the Church. Then it is a valid marriage?See Canon # 1086. Such a marriage is not permitted, however the local bishop may dispense from the impediment and allow the marriage to go forward.
Do you need more information, or more specifics?
Yes.So if they get the dispensation from the local bishop they can be married in the Church. Then it is a valid marriage?
Well, yes. That’s exactly what it means. So if they get the dispensation from the local bishop they can be married in the Church. Then it is a valid marriage?
Thank you very much. It is clear now.Well, yes. That’s exactly what it means.
The bishop would not (cannot) allow a marriage that isn’t valid–his dispensation from the law is specifically what makes it valid. There are other impediments to marriage from which the bishop cannot dispense.
