as usual, it was a loooooong thursday night on the paramedic shift, so im way tired. i got this secondhand from a medic team across the county.

Florida has a law where an unwanted newborn may be dropped off at any hospital, fire station, medic station, police station, or other designated places with no questions asked. Medic 11 team told me and my partner this morning at the hospital, a man and woman dropped of probably a week or so old infant at their station yesterday at 4pm at the beginning of their shift. they said the couple both had wedding bands on, but because of the law, no one could ask any questions period. no one was really sure if the law applied to married persons, but the general interpretation is that no questions means no questions.

my question is: what would the Catholic church say about a married couple placing a newborn of theirs up for adoption? obviously they kept with the church’s teaching on abortion, they were “open to life”, they just didnt desire to keep it i guess. is it required of a married couple that they keep their infants? i mean, if the Catholic church supports adoption instead of abortion, why not let married and single alike place for adoption instead of having unwanted children in households?

The commitment of the CC is not just to life but also for life.

It would seem to me that the Catholic Church would, in general, not approve of a young couple who gave their baby up for adoption just because they wanted to keep partying and traveling. This is not to say that there may be other legitimate reasons when it would be ok.
