Married legally, but not in church. Now what?

Thanks all,

We have some decisions to make, but does anyone have a suggestion regarding what we should be doing in the meantime regarding living together as husband/wife? I suppose that was the real meat of the question and I got sidetracked by visions of pretty dresses.

I want us to start to grow in faith together, pray together, continue going to mass together, but again, even if it only takes a few weeks to sort out the convalidation thing (not saying it will, just an example) I still have to worry about those few weeks of living together “in sin.” (I hate saying that, btw)

As others have said, you may have to live as brother and sister…but it is important to talk to your priest.

But living as brother and sister…take the time to talk without the sexual relations…you will discover each other more.

Keep this passage in mind:

“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices

The first step is to talk to your priest. He will be able to give you much more concrete guidance than any of us are able to offer.

I agree with Joe. Strangers on the Internet – even well meaning strangers – aren’t the best source for moral guidance. Talk with your priest and follow his advice.

Talk to your pastor, do what he says.
