Divinum Officium states that the Martyrology in Prime is as for the following day (i.e., anticipated). Why is this? As we pray Prime in the morning, why not do the Martyrology for the current day? tyia

No, it’s always been that way. Since Prime is now abolished in the OF liturgy, it is either said after Lauds, a minor hour or stand alone.

I’m guessing it’s to ensure everyone was aware of the next day’s liturgy in a era when there was no internet and before that, no printing press.

This is for liturgical proclamation of course, in chapter.

Our abbey does the martyrology outside the liturgy; it is proclaimed at the noon meal by the refectory reader, and is always for the following day.

I have only read that it has always been anticipated. The reasoning was not given.
