Marxist Feminists' Ruined Lives (blast from past: Kate Millet's sister writes too briefly about)

As for the use of ‘Womyn’, that’s usually used by people who are trying to minimize feminism more than it is feminists. Yeah, you can find it occasionally in fringe groups, but you don’t see it from mainstream scholars and activists. Now, there is a music festival in Michigan that uses it-but it’s an annual thing geared towards college kids. Not exactly what we’re talking about here.
Got it. The author is a liar for relating her experiences with a specific feminist segment and I am too for telling you how it was at UW-Madison, WI in the early 1990’s. You’re usually better than this.

I fully admit to categorizing and simplifying (this is a popular forum, not a phd thesis), but you’re just denying the reality of anything outside your own experience. Which is worse? 😉

P.S. Yes, I spell atrociously in English, much less French!

She’s reiterating her experiences with her severely mentally ill sister. She then extrapolates that to all the feminists everywhere who took down society. Do you think that Millet’s brand of feminism won? Can you really say that? The women who are most likely to know who she is are the women who are most likely to have a family. (Or, ironically, be lesbians who want the right to be married. What did I tell you about disagreements within feminism:))

Now, if this woman had titled an essay ‘What it’s like to be Kate Millet’s Sister’, I would read it in a heartbeat, out of intellectual and maybe a little morbid curiosity. I would especially love her perspective on their childhood. But what the author did instead was exploit the fact that she has a disturbed sister who said many shocking things. She was a great woman in many ways. She did a good job explaining what it was like to live as a woman who was held back by the current system. Kate Millet saw a lot of very real problems in our society-she just disagreed with me, you, and most other people-feminists included:eek: on how to solve them. But Kate Millet, Marxist feminism, and Hollywood stars named ‘Julie’ have nothing to do with each other. This article was just meant to inflame and insult.

And uh, I’m not arguing with your experiences at college. I was telling you that’s not shocking to me, considering it’s a college, and there’s a very well known music festival with that spelling that happens to be within a road-trip distance. But you’re showing your own ignorance about feminism by portraying that as a mainstream thing.

Not denying anything, just not happy about how everything was presented.

Context does help. Are you saying you have outside objective information that Kate Millet was mentally ill? Or are you concluding that from the article itself? I admit that I’d never heard the name before the article. That may explain my different take on it.

You mean Simone de Beauvoir (author of The Second Sex), don’t you?
As noted, I spell horribly. I’m an engineer two decades out of school. I’m surprised I remembered it as closely as I did!

Oh, I remember why. Her name and work came up in connection with the thinking of Jean Paul Sarte recently for me. Nevermind…

She’s been treated for very severe bipolar disorder for decades and has taken herself off of treatment several times-and wound up in mental hospitals. Her claim is that she does not have a mental illness, and that society is just trying to label her out of fear.

Please, don’t get me wrong, I have had my own struggles with severe mental illness and I’m very sensitive towards people who suffer from them. But, I’m inclined to say that someone who is so angry and hurt, who grew up with an abusive drunk as a father, who has attempted suicide several times, and who continues to show signs of severe mental illness might have more going on than just a desire to improve the lives of women when she says that that the traditional family is a torturous prison for women.

I’m not saying that she wasn’t brilliant or that she didn’t make valuable contributions-she did. But I am saying that her worldview was probably tainted by her own personal experiences as well as her mental illness (and isn’t everyone’s?).

The second is a 1992 article discussing her then-recent statements on psychiatry.

She wasn’t perfect. I never said she was. But she did not bring down the nation, she is not representative of feminists, she came from a much different era, and she was mentally ill.
See now THAT sounds more like a BEL post, thanks. I can see where you’d have a basis for suspecting the article author conflating the issues she has with her sister and the issues she has with her sister’s political views.

I don’t agree that the article can be so casually dismissed entirely, nor a link between Kate and Marxist Feminism generally, but I can at least comprehend where you are coming from now. Thanks.

On this you and I agree. I’ve long said that (dare I lump the whole thing together) feminism since the 1960’s is the epitome of the GK Chesterton quote: “Reformers are usually right about what is wrong, but almost always wrong about what is right.”

You and I actually agree that women faced structural injustices in society, especially back then. I just think that she, Simone D. (see what I did there?) and rather a lot of others, went and proposed a cure as bad as the disease.

Thanks for the discussion, sorry for any crankiness. Tone is hard to read on the web. Good weekend!

I agree with G. K. Chesterton.

I noticed a lot of commonality between discussions on feminists and labor unions.

Both arose to address real evils yet these movements are controversial in and of themselves.

You don’t have to go back in time to see the injustices faced by women. All you need to do is look around the world today in places like China and India and their missing female population.

Real feminism was hijacked by CIA operative Gloria Steinem per the Redstocking expose, and the CIA was hijacked by the “Dulles Gang” of pro-Communist reptiles including their spy catcher, James Jesus Angleton, who mysteriously always came up empty-handed. The satanic subversion of the female ultimately has its roots in Genesis 3:15, God’s mandate for the Woman & Seed to conquer satan and his minions.

Anything more satanic than pedophilia? Jesus promised swimming with a millstone would be more hopeful than facing His wrath for tinkering with kids. The beloved crank, Kate Millett, was featured along with Camille Paglia on NAMBLA/North American Man-Boy Love Association’s web page with writings from homosexual feminists pimping sex with children. This is “Second Wave” feminism, the hijacking of women’s rights and dignity led by MS Magazine. MS Magazine took 25 years to do a comprehensive article on sexually transmitted diseases because MS Mag didn’t want to harsh the buzz of the sexual depravity they were pitching. This is Gloria Steinem’s One World Caliphate of Satanism, with Judas Goat Steinem redirecting feminism into sexual self-destruction as financed by the Playboy Foundation and Planned Parenthood. See Judith Reisman’s survey of kiddie sex cartoons in “Playboy.” Planned Parenthood’s racism and sexism targets non-white females for death. Bonus? Planned Parenthood gets to croak mommy, too, with an increased rate of breast cancer after abortions per Joel Brind’s meta-analysis.

So equity feminism mobilized by Susan B. Anthony, “equal pay for equal work,” is long dead. Especially flagrant gender-based Democrat salary inequity in Washington is allowed to flourish unmolested by liberal feminists because below-the-belt “Second Wave” and homosexual “Third Wave” feminism is highly successful with the culture-crushing cocaine crowd. Good news for force brokers, bad news for human beings. This is the long con of women that has gone on long enough. Remember, Karl Marx left HIS family to rot and starve in Paris so he could cavort with his rich boyfriend, Freddy Engels.

Russia’s errors include below-the-belt liberation, freedom to disrespect, abort, enslave women and freedom to rape children in their human trafficking boom. Boys being boys with boys is the ultimate paradigm with women & children last–or haven’t you noticed? “We fight not against men” but against satanic strongholds surrounded by well-meaning dupes. 🙂 The Fatima message was that, in the end, the Immaculate Heart would triumph over those who divide, debase and hoodwink the masses into trading their Rosaries for chains. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. AMEN

“The research was an investigative analysis of PLAYBOY, PENTHOUSE and HUSTLER over the period of December 1953 to December 1984 to examine for nonviolent, violent, and criminal image portrayal and scenario involvement of children. The research reported the findings of 14,854 images of crime and violence and 6,004 images of children (with the predominate group being girls between ages 3 to 11 years) as part of the overall sexual and violent scenario. There were 989 sexual scenarios which included children actively involved with adults; and each magazine portrayed children as unharmed and/or benignly affected by the child/adult sex.”

**Here’s the Department of Justice research Judith Reisman used to make her statement that PLAYBOY et alii portray sex with children, and make it appear benign, and for that she was sued by PLAYBOY for libel and WON! That’s MS Magazine’s underwriter, the PLAYBOY Foundation. Wanna know what “Fourth Wave” feminism is going to be?

IF “Second Wave” feminism is sex with non-marital partners with the STD+abortion/breast cancer bonus; and “Third Wave” is same-gender sex with married same-gender partners; “Fourth Wave” feminism is going to be Sharia law with tough-on-crime homosexuals safely ensconced in Famous Barack’s Amerika (that refused to make violence against pregnant women a hate crime) while the boys-will-be-boys-with-boys 'n girls, and the Kate Millett’s and the Camille Paglia’s of the world, are marrying their child-brides as mandated by Mohammed’s revelations from the Angel of Light. “Beware of Satan appearing as an Angel of Light.” --Jesus Christ **

PS The FBI was infiltrating radical movements and that included the feminists. Anybody know who showed up on the FOIA lists?

feminisnt.com/2012/highlights-from-my-bizarre-fbi-file-and-how-to-foia-your-own/

Here’s one COINTELPRO offering from an active feminist. Now, since the FBI has been pro-kiddie sex via Kinsey’s assertion that kids like sex with adults, and under J. Edgar “Mary” Hoover was refusing to keep statistics on child rape when victims were under 12 because of Kinsey, isn’t it likely that “Fourth Wave” pro-kiddie sex feminists were fostered by the FBI? “We won’t be fooled again!”

Why are women still voting for lies? Here’s Judith Reisman’s PRIMA FACIE case for my thesis that “Fourth Wave” feminism will be legalized adult / kiddie sex and child brides. Reisman’s call is for the arrest of Famous Barack’s “SAFE SCHOOLS CZAR” who counseled a minor abused by an adult simply to use a condom and take it like a man…Thanks, Uncle Kevin!
