I swear that when I was a kid we were taught in CCD that Jesus gave Mary a vision of millions of spirits suffering and being punished. That He was showing his mother a picture of Hell or Purgatory. To my knowlege nothing like that happens in the New Testament. Does Tradition state something like this or am I off my rocker and remembering something completely different?

This isn’t part of Tradition (big T). More than likely it comes from one of the apocryphal gospels like the Gnostic Gospel of Thomas or some other non-canonical source. While it is possible Christ could have given his mother such a vision, it is not part of the Deposit of Faith.

I believe you were being taught about one of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima in which the children were shown a vision of hell.

I’ve never heard that before. Of, course Our Lady showed the children at Fatima a vision of Hell, and St Faustina also saw the souls in Hell and Purgatory.

Experience of Sister Lucia of Fatima
"Our Lady showed us a great sea of fire which seemed to be under the earth. Plunged in this fire were demons and souls in human form, like transparent burning embers, all blackened or burnished bronze, floating about in the conflagration, now raised into the air by the flames that issued from within themselves together with great cloud of smoke, now falling back on every side like sparks in a huge fire, without weight or equilibrium, and amid shrieks and groans of pain and despair, which horrified us and made us tremble with fear. The demons could be distinguished by their terrifying and repellent likeness to frightful and unknown animals, all black and transparent. This vision lasted but an instant. How can we ever be grateful enough to our kind heavenly Mother, who had already prepared us by promising, in the first Apparition, to take us to heaven. Otherwise, I think we would have died of fear and terror.
We then looked up at Our Lady, who said to us so kindly and so sadly: 'You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go.
