Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Mary’s overshadowing by the Holy Spirit at the moment of her “Yes” gives us much to ponder as we continue these days after Easter, looking forward to the Feasts of Ascension and Pentecost. Mary, our Mother and Model, was pleasing to God from the first moment of her Conception. We were made clean by our Baptism and also began to live a supernatural life intended for perfect union with God, Father Son and Holy Spirit.
How many times, however, have we been unfaithful to grace? Perhaps we cannot be the judge, but God knows. Despite our weaknesses, He has sent His Holy Spirit to bring us into the complete Truth. Every day is a new day in which, like Mary, we can become more mindful of His Love given to us, and respond with our heartfelt “Yes” as she did to whatever God permits. Some thoughts:

Our Lady of Light, Spouse of the Holy Spirit, pray for us. Help us to persevere on our journey of faith, with hope in the power of His Holy Spirit to guide us, and filled with His Love. Thank you, dear Mother, for always showing us the Way, Who is Jesus, your Son. Continue to Mother us and all your children forever. Amen.http://campus.udayton.edu/mary/images/spirit05.jpgThe Holy Spirit is the guardian of hope in the human heart … Mary was the woman docile to the voice of the Spirit, the woman who was “hoping against hope.” In Mary, the Church sees a “sign of certain hope.” (LG 68) Vatican II speaks of Mary as “molded, so to speak, by the Holy Spirit and formed as a new creature.” (LG 56)… from on “Mary and the Holy Spirit” by M.
