I need to give a talk in a few weeks to a confirmation group on Jesus as the New Adam and Mary as the New Eve. However, none of my books take this on explicilty. So…

Any suggestions on Scripture verses?

Or

Any good books to look at or buy?

Thanks

If you’re interested, I wrote my college seminar paper on this topic. You are welcome to a copy and a list of all the sources I used.

The bible study on Genesis from catholicexchange.com covers this in depth.

In Christ,

These folks have a great study booklet on Mary that might help. Cheap too, though worth its weight in grace!
The book **Catholic For A Reason
** has a whole intense section Mary & would also be helpful

Scott Hahn’s book, Hail, Holy Queen: The Mother of God in the Word of God, has a chapter on this subject entitled, “Christmas’s Eve: Mary’s Motherhood is Eden Revisited.”

Here are some of the sources I used when researching this topic:

The Death of the Messiah, by Raymond Brown (little info.)
The New Catholic Encyclopedia
Jesus and His Mother by Andre Feuillet
The Mother of Jesus in the New Testament by John McHugh
John by James McPolin
Flesh and Glory by Dorothy Lee

You can also use Mary: Mystery of the Covenant by Ignace de la Potterie to help strengthen the case for Mary as New Eve. It ties in the Gospel of John’s depiction of Mary into Eve and Gen 3:15 really well. McHugh was one of the best sources. Had Scott Hahn’s book been out when I wrote this paper, I would have used it as well. Good luck!
