So i got this question asked, And I think its more of a smartellic question , but how would I respond to someone asking:

MARY CO MEDIATOR, now all believe that Mary was only human can some one tell me how Mary can hear 1 billon prayers all at the same time,

Thank you all!

Well if you wanted to be gentle and nice you would say that if Mary is in heaven (and why wouldn’t she be), and if like all other Christians as Scripture tells us we will be united with Christ, why wouldn’t she be able to ‘hear’ those prayers? Christ does, doesn’t He? If we are all part of the Body of Christ, and if we are all joined to Him, then why wouldn’t Mary ‘hear’ or ‘see’ or experience whatever Jesus hears, sees, etc. in heaven?

After all, there is more Scriptural evidence that heaven (and its inhabitants) are ‘aware’ of us on earth than there is that they are ‘not’ aware. Doesn’t Scripture tell us that God is God of the Living, not the Dead? And that those who die in Christ live forever? Isn’t part of living being able to hear and see, etc?

Ditto on Tantum’s post. Also, Paul speaks of how he will have a sense of “full” knowledge when he’s in heaven (1 Cor 13:12). It seems silly to argue that this full knowledge of Godly things should exclude prayers sent by the faithful on earth.

That totally makes sense! I again am still learning so much since I have returned, but as John Martignoni said: If you don’t know, don’t guess. Find out and get back to them.

Thank you so much, this helped me out so much!

Yes thank you for the scripture reference! Very helpful as well!

Thank you so much!

God Bless!

Thank you so much Abreyta for sharing your journey with us all through your posts since embarking on your “Coming Home” journey. By virtue of your baptism you are one with Christ and all who are born into His Kingdom. You may trust most explicitly that He who has begun a good work in you WILL be able to complete it at the day of our Lord, even as He does it day by day, little by little. I see that work at progress in the tone and content of your posts. So again thanks for sharing your journey with us.

Couple of things come to mind in answering this…
  1. Jesus (God) is the Vine, we are the branches. When we die and go to heaven, we are not separated from the Vine, but more fully united to Him.
  2. God is outside of time, and when we get to heaven, we will be, too. We humans here on earth live from moment to moment. God does not. God is simultaneously in the past, present, and future. He does not “forsee” the future, but sees it as you and I see the present moment. Same applies to the present and past. So, this point in time that we may call 11:07am CST, Dec. 24th, 2009, He can see forever, and has seen forever, like we see the present. In other words, He has all eternity to review this present moment for each one of us. Therefore, a billion people praying at 11:07 am CST, Dec. 24th, 2009, is no problem for Him to listen completely to each one, because He has all eternity in which to do so.
I hope this doesn’t confuse you, but helps. It’s not a great explanation, but it’s all I could do on the fly at this moment in time. 😉

Thank you! This Journey has been very important yet rewarding for me, each day I try to learn as much as I can. I understand that we will be tested on our faith, and not to look at this as an attack, but an opportunity to educate someone who may not understand the Catholic faith. If I am unsure, I always mention : On the top of my head I do not know, but I will find out and get back to you! I believe there is to much at stake to be guessing! I come here to Catholic.com for many great answers and learning.

I know own a copy of the Catechism second edition and Now a RSV CE second edition as well. The bible has been so helpful in my life, As I try to read a little bit more each day.

Thank you for your kindness, and sincerity!

God Bless!
