a few months back i posted about an icon I own. I could not figure out if it was our lady of perpetual help or not. So we finally got a scanner and here she is!





Anyone know???
 
This particular pose is called Sweet Kissing (Glykophilousa).
 
ok and who is the woman on the right side with i think knitting needles?

Firstly that’s a spindle for spinning, not knitting needles.

It looks like the woman on the right has the stars on her head and shoulder that are associated with Our Lady - notice them in the main panel as well? I’ve never known the stars to be used in depictions of any other saint or angel, so I think it’s actually another depiction of Our Lady. And being the other side panel is an angel, the two are probably meant to be seen as together depicting the Annunciation.
 
Thats interesting, I didn’t know it had a name. But is it Mary?

You are correct in such reasoning. In all Orthodox ikons of Mother of God She has star on chelo and each shoulder. These are to sympbolic that she was virgin before, during and after birth of Emmanuel.

The side icons make up Annunciation icon - Mary tradiationally made to be making some purpur curtain for temple at moment of arrive of Gavriil angel. Such annunciation icon very common in all Orthodox churches is on the Tsar doors of the Ikonostas.

Central icon is similar to Jaroslavnaja ikona of mother of god.

Our friend Volodymyr means 'purple" instead of purpur. Holy Tradition that Mary was taken to live in the Temple in Jerusalem as a small child. One of duties was to spin the thread used to weave the curtain that seperated the Holy of Holies. In ikons of the Annunciation, Mary is often shown holding a distaff for spinning thread.
