Dear Brothers and Sisters,

How beautiful to read in her Diary, these words of St. Faustina:
  1. Mary is my Instructress, who is ever teaching me how to live for God. My spirit brightens up in Your gentleness and your humility, O Mary…
  1. …when I was praying, the Mother of God told me, Your lives must be like mine: quiet and hidden, in unceasing union with God, pleading for humanity and preparing the world for the second coming of God.
During this Passion Week, how important it is for us to be close to Mary our Mother and to learn from her, as she learned from Jesus, “how to live for God.”

I believe those two passages ring true for me also. I grew up knowing about one apparition of Mary, she came to the island of my own mother’s birth, where there is a great devotion to Her. I have slowly come to learn about others, from Mary’s own urging: I will not list them because a few are unapproved by the church as yet. The latest that Mary has nudged me towards is Our Lady of La Salette. This image of the Weeping Lady struck my heart and resonates with me, as with St. Faustina’s words…“pleading for Humanity and preparing the world for the second coming of God”.

Dear Casilda,

Thanks for your reply; it is always good to hear from you. I believe that Our Lady has been sent to us more times in recent history than in earlier times because we are so much more in need of her “mothering”. She was given to us by Jesus from His Cross because He knew how much we needed her example and the help of her prayers.

When Jesus said to Mary, “Woman behold your son”, she received John who stood with her at the Cross and each one of us . She is our faithful mother, though we have not always been as faithful as the Apostle John who heard Jesus say: “Son, behold your Mother”, for John took her into his life in a new and beautiful way.

By God’s grace may we do as John did, each day taking Mary anew into our lives. May Mary teach us as she taught John and Faustina and all the saints, how to live for God, as she did. May we plead with her for humanity, and learn to prepare ourselves and others for His second coming.

Mother of Mercy, Refuge of Sinners, pray for us and for the whole world.
