I have read in my readings that when Jesus was crucified Mary his mother was there and she was afflicted. Is this part of the deposit of faith? What was wrong?

Yes. It is in Scripture. (Scripture is part of the deposit of faith.)
John 19:25 So the soldiers did this. But standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Mag’dalene. 19:26 When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” 19:27 Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. 19:28 After this Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfil the scripture), “I thirst.” 19:29 A bowl full of vinegar stood there; so they put a sponge full of the vinegar on hyssop and held it to his mouth. 19:30 When Jesus had received the vinegar, he said, “It is finished”; and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
I’m not sure what you mean by “What was wrong?” Do you mean “what was her affliction”?
Her affliction was having to watch her son suffer such cruelties and die. That is an affliction I can’t even conceive of undergoing.

Oh I see. When I read affliction I thought she had some kind of illness. That clears things up.

Agree.I believe this is why Mary is referred to as the co-redemptrix.She stood by silently, suffering along with her Son.As a mother,I can’t even begin to imagine her sorrow.😦

Here in Mexico, I once tried to watch a guy be sown up, by a nurse, without any anesthesia! I almost passed out! I felt ill, chickened out and went to another room! I can’t imagine what I’d do at a crucifixion!

When Jesus expired (died) there was an eathquake and the sky became dark.
The Centurion ordered to one of the soldiers to make sure Jesus was indeed dead. The soldier pearced Jesus’s heart with the lance.

This must also have wounded our mother’s heart.
