It’s celebrated Sept. 8. What are its proofs? Or how did people knew about it? Is it only made up?

Feasts are celebrated to celebrate the fact that it happened, not the day it happened on. Whether the date is accurate or not is not important to our faith. What is important to our faith is the fact that the event happened.
