"Mary's Light" in the darkness of Mother teresa of Calcutta

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

In one of our recent Bible Studies, discussing faith, the subject of Bl. Mother Teresa of Calcutta was mentioned. Her experience of “darkness” explained in her own writings edited by one of the Priests of her order in the book, “Come Be My Light” written after her death, explained this “darkness".

After the discussion, I decided to re-read the book which I had read when it was first published, and I’ve been very blessed in the re-reading of it. However, and this is why I’m posting this thread – I continued to do some research on the Missionaries of Charity Priests and discovered more about Mother Teresa’s dependence on Mary. Fr. Joseph Langford MC who co-founded with Mother Teresa the priests’ branch of her order, wrote a book to further clarify this “darkness” because of the misunderstandings engendered by some in the secular press.

I’m sending a link to an interview which Father Langford gave before his death in 2010 in which he shares how Mother Teresa revealed to him a vision she had close to the time of her original inspiration from Jesus in1947. She also told Father that one day he would need to share this and so he did. The picture above shows Fr. Joseph and Mother Teresa “on their journey”.

In the book “33 Days to Morning Glory” more is shared about Mother Teresa’s devotion to Our Lady.

Yes, I too was blessed in reading the link. I had never read anything about the vision Bl. Mother Teresa of Calcutta had, but I’m so grateful that she told Fr. Langford about it and added that one day he may need to share it with others. It does further clarify God’s intention for her in the darkness He permitted, and it is so true to God’s work in souls – all graces come through Mary!

Just wanted to add, for Dorothy and all others who may have read or will read this thread:

I purchased Fr. Langford’s book, for our Kindle. (It is slightly cheaper than the hardback copy) and read it in about 21/2 days. It is not a long book but especially when Father quotes Mother Teresa, I wanted to stop and ponder her words. Father draws some very interesting parallels between Mother’s vision and the apparition of Mary to St. Juan Diego.

Quite interesting to me, in one of the rooms of our house we have two pictures, on two connecting walls – one of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the other of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Mother’s picture is a large print reproduced from the cover of a book which was given to us by the photographer/author. It is a beautiful headshot and Mother’s head is turned slightly so that she is looking at the connecting wall where hangs the large print of Our Lady of Guadalupe. How appropriate!

I usually pray the Rosary and the chaplet of Divine Mercy in that room, daily – where of course, there is also a crucifix.
