Were the prayers of the Traditional Mass a summary of all the teachings of the Church.

I’ve heard people complain that there is no mention of purgatory in the OF. Or mention of other things like merit of the saints. But I didn’t understand, why would there be? Unless the mass was supposed to list all of our beliefs?

Would that explain why the TLM slowly changed organically over 1500 years, as new teachings were defined by the church? Is that why it’s so bad to get rid of those prayers with the OF?

The OF includes prayers for the dead and All Souls day is on the calendar. I could be mistaken, but I don’t think the EF is any more explicit about Purgatory than that.

Anyway, I don’t think the EF has every teaching. For example, when praying the Confetior there’s no mention of having individual confession with a priest in order to receive absolution.
