I have recently discovered a wonderful website where parishes across the country broadcast their daily Mass celebration. I love Mass, I think it is a beautiful celebration of what Jesus did for us. I just wanted to ask is it ok to celebrate Mass in this way? I have my Missal at home with me and would like to participate in Mass at home as well.

This wouldn’t prevent me from going to my own Parish, I work five days a week so I am completely unable to get to Mass during the week. There are a few parishes across the country however that broadcast Mass at 6pm. Would it count if I celebrate Mass by watching online at these times?

I don’t think it counts as attending or fulfills the Sunday and Holy Day obligation. But watching mass online and reading the Gospel and readings for the day is certainty good faithful practice, if it is impossible for you attend Mass otherwise.

Do you have a link you could share? If like to watch sometime too.

It’s a wonderful thing to watch a Mass if you can’t get to one. It won’t fulfill an obligation but then again, if you were ever truly unable to get to Mass, no obligation exists. Besides, you stated that this is for weekday Mass. This is a wonderful way to spend some time with the Lord. I like to say the Spiritual Communion prayer at Communion time whenever I watch Mass:
Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus,
I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.

Thank you for your reply. I would always ensure that I make my own Parish in person on Sunday and days of obligation anyway. 🙂

I’m a little confused about the Mass celebration I just watched though. It felt most things were skipped over, the Mass lasted only 10 minutes that included the readings and homily. Would this be due to the main celebration today being Vigil tonight?

Except in the case of Solemnities and certain Feasts, Mass during the week* does not include the Gloria, a second reading, or the Credo. The homily is not required. Ten minutes does sound lightning fast, though. The shortest Mass I’ve ever attended lasted about fifteen minutes.

*Monday through Friday, Saturday morning
