Mass intentions for the same deceased people every Sunday for years?

As others have said, you aren’t being real charitable here. Maybe you have never lost someone close to you, so you don’t understand.

When my mom died, many people requested a Mass for her. Once she was listed in the bulletin 3 times for just one week.

It gave me great solace to know that others cared about her soul. She mattered to others. I never looked at it as someone simply writing a check.

My parish did this. When our Pastor first came to our parish, we had a 3 year Mass intention backlog. Father M said, “That’s ridiculous!”

Having more masses than can be said in a year is a violation of canon law. The priest is to transfer the Masses EVERY year. Your pastor did the right thing by getting his parish back in line with canon law.
