More of a news item/announcement than a discussion thread, if there are any interested people living within travelling distance of the Preston, England area.

There will be a Sung Mass in Saint Mary Magdalen church, Penwortham, Preston, at 8:15am next Sunday, 5 June 2011. The celebrant will be a priest who has been recently ordained for the Fraternity of Saint Peter. There will also be a choir of FSSP seminarians. I know it’s a bit early in the morning for some people on a Sunday, and it may be a bit far to travel, but if you don’t know about it, you definitely can’t attend!

If you attend the first Mass of a new priest, you get a special indulgence.

Pretty neat.

You need to receive the blessing, which is so important that the newly ordained usually bless the bishop(s) who ordained them. It is always beautiful a new Mass.

One day I was minding my own business and went to “the usual” daily Mass near work, and the priest announced that it was the first Mass of this particular priest who he introduced to the congregation and described the blessing and indulgence.

It was very cool!

Thanks Mark for letting us know.

I probably won’t be able to make it, but I might. It would be very interesting and I’m sure inspirational and sanctifying. I’ve never been to either a first Mass or an FSSP Mass so I would be curious, if I could get across.

Post some pictures, if you get the chance.
