Hello all

Sorry, I wasn’t sure where to put this question. I have three kids and the oldest is now big enough to kind of follow along with the Mass. The thing is, I want to be able to explain to her what is going on during the Mass, without disturbing everyone around me. (For instance, she will often ask about the consecration…“Mommy, is this where the miracle happens?”

We have a book that does a pretty fair job, but I think she’d get it a bit better if I could do a play by play while she’s watching an actual Mass.

I don’t have access to EWTN, so that’s not an option. Does anyone know if there’s something on video?

Thanks.

Hi there!

I’m not sure if this is exactly what you’d be looking for, but I’ve found a DVD called “The Catholic Mass… Revealed!” to be very interesting and informative: catholicmass.org/english.html

It is not just a video of Mass from beginning to end, rather each section of the Mass is given it’s own “chapter” with introduction and narration. The clips were taken of various Masses from different parishes.

Additionally, it looks like you can watch EWTN’s streaming broadcast online:
ewtn.com/audiovideo/index.asp

Hope this helps!

Thank you, Justin. The video is excellent…though I think a tad too advanced for my purposes. I’ve got to check with my husband to see if we can access the live EWTN feed. Thanks so much for the links! 😃

Contact our Parish RCIA director many have various versions which they use once or twice a year in RCIA. The versions very a great deal in content and format. Also ask to visit RCIA with your children when they do an explaination of the Mass which last 1-3 classes 1-3 hours each done each year in RCIA. Do not worry most catholics cannot explain the Mass. If you attend the classes you will learn more than you knew to ask!

👍 I just got very similar advice from my pastor. Only he suggested the DRE since I was looking for something directed toward young children. (My oldest is only five)

Great minds think alike, huh? 😃
