Is it okay to choose to do some other activity or thing during the day instead of going to a weekday Mass? I’m not sure if God would be happy if I chose sleeping a tad longer, sitting in the sauna, and perhaps working on a craft or playing an instrument instead of going to Mass but weekday Mass is not an obligation…

You answered your own question. There is no obligation to attend weekday Mass. It’s a perfectly wonderful thing to do, but no one is required to. Lots of people do lots of things other than go to weekday Mass, it doesn’t mean they’re bad people or that God isn’t pleased with them, does it? If it’s your cup of tea and spiritually beneficial to you, great, then go. But you’re not obligated to.

Do you tend toward scrupulosity? You might want to be careful with thinking about questions like this–it could lead you to put unnecessary burdens on yourself.

If you want you can reschedule those things in order to go to mass. Some parishes offer it at different times.

While an act can be morally neutral in the abstract (considering only the object), all human acts are either good or bad in the concrete. Thus it is a venial sin to omit a good act without sufficient reason. However, since only a slight reason is needed to justify the omission of a non-obligatory good act, and it is frequently difficult to say whether such good reason existed, such omissions are not usually certain matter for confession.

In general, one should get into the practice of attending daily Mass if it is not inconvenient.
