This was the subject of Mel Gibson’s movie called, “Apocalypto”. The biggest massacres in South America happened before Catholicism got there and involved frequent human sacrifices in which the person was put on an altar and had their heart cut out of their chest while it was still beating. People were randomly selected to die this way. The Catholics who came to South America were not perfect and had their own faults, but their arrival was welcomed by the majority of South Americans because it meant an end to the practice of human sacrifices.

I think you need to ask the person who told you about this for more information, including the *source *from which he got the information. There doesn’t seem to be anything listed under that name, nor about massacres in SA, except for drug killings.

What massacre in south america? If what he is talking is when Christopher Columbus arrived to America and how the Spaniards killed the Indians, well that was not the catholic church in any way, those were the Spanish conquistadors. In fact it may be good for you to know that what the catholic church did was stopping the killing of the Indians when fray bartolome de las casas came to America and started telling the Spaniards to stop killing people.
