This question was prompted by reading the thread about marital pleasure and self-mortification. The poster referred to the sexual arousal he experienced when just giving his wife a back or foot massage. Which raises a real concern…
I have a male friend, about 10 years my senior, who is a trained massage thereapist. He has offered (& I have accepted) on several occasions to give me a massage. It is no different than I would receive in a spa or club from a massage thereapist–and I’ve had many over the years. I am not clothed during the massage, but undress in private and am draped where necessary–as I would be for any other therapsit.
Is it problematic that I have accepted these massages? We are good friends, enjoy each others’ company and conversation and have never had any concerns with the propriety of the friendship. I appreciate that he is very respectful of my comfort level and the boundaries I set. I’m also comfortable that our interaction has been appropriate during the massages, and so has he. We have specifically and openly talked about it to avoid any misunderstandings or problems as both of us are happily married (to others).
Do I have still have an issue? Any reason to think a man can’t give an attractive/fit female friend a massage without becoming inappropriately stimulated? Doesn’t it first require a romantic/intimate relationship to cross that line? More specifically, could this man have an issue of which I am unaware and that he may not verbalize–even though he offered the favor and stated he is as comfortable with our interaction as with any other person he sees in this capacity? Am I over-thinking this?
