We are amid a heated debate at our Parish. The UN Millenium Development Goals and the ONE Campaign. In short, they are goals to erradicate extreme poverty (good thing), but their potential/stated strategies to getting there includes access to family planning and contraception. Some Catholic organizations say they’re ok, others not. Depending on what day you call the USCCB, they’re for or against them. I don’t know where the Magesterium stands, but please advise. We are on the brink of supporting these and I am convinced they will end not only in potentially reducing poverty, but also in the loss of unborn lives and contraception.
Pg. 26, bullet 9 of the linked strategies (PDF file). unmillenniumproject.org/documents/overviewEng23-36LowRes.pdf
Albania has already begun these practices. See the reports on this link undp.org.al/?elib,659
Thank you for any help as soon as possible (much needed!)

Contraception is NEVER accpetable, and this is part of the church’s infailable teachings.

Abortion also is considered immoral not only for it being a sexual sin (on the same level as contraception) but also for the murder that it is.

Any support of these stances is herecy and CANNOT be supported - bottom line.

The church must be obeyed.

Absolutely agree. I simply need a “Catholic” unified voice on this. It seems so obvious to me, but as I said, different Catholic leaders say different things, which makes it very difficult for people here to follow the moral bottom-line.

Don’t go to Catholic ‘leaders’ go to THE leader and his troops, the Pope and the Magisterium.

Find the applicable paragraphs in the CCC, find the council teachings (I think the council of trent said many htings on the subject) an present to them…

It is utterly unacceptable for a Catholic anything to support any of this…

God bless you and good luck…

Thanks Crow.
I haven’t seen the Pope’s or the Magesterium’s take on this issue. Someone here said that the Pope is endorsing the goals. If this is true, I’m speechless! The conundrum(s) aren’t the goals, they’re the UNs endorsed strategies to achieve them. If you have a chance, look at the 1st PDF link I sent before.
How could the Pontiff not see the link (literally on the UN website) that states the strategies? These goals aren’t just going to magically happen. Is it possible that entire groups (including the Papacy-if they truly endorse) missed what I was able to find?!?
God Bless. Let me know if you find any more info.

The UN, in general, is bad news. Their policies are almost never Catholic, and they never enforce anything anyways. They just spread the culture of death in third world countries. No one ever calls them on the morbidity of ending poverty by killing all the poor people. 😦

dafalax… love your sig!

Someone once had that policy of killing all the poor to end poverty… true story…

hum… his name was… let me remember… oh ya!

He was called Vlad, the Impaller! Nowadays better known as Dracula!
And yes, a lot of people nowadays makes Vlad look like a Saint in comparaison… sad but true!
