  2. There are medicines to control urges (they are given to sexual criminals all the time), so if you can not control yourself through prayer and your religion, see a doctor who specializes in these types of problems. Don’t go to blogs.

Let’s call a spade, a spade. What you are implying is chemical castration. That is NOT an option. Sorry. Long-term use of chemical castration drugs can cause permanent damage including permanent sterility and as such can be seen as a form of mutilation.

Anybody who thinks that one should be chemically castrated to overcome a masturbation addiction needs some serious spiritual direction. You are suggesting in fact the use of a Howitzer to do the job of a fly-swatter.

Throw all the attributes you want at masturbation: “grave”, “serious sin”, “mortal sin”, “against Church teaching”.

But it is certainly not serious to the point of warranting castration and NO self-respecting medical practitioner would prescribe castration, chemical or surgical, against masturbation. If s/he ever did, s/he would justify having their license to practice medicine revoked. The ONLY justification for use of these drugs, would be for convicted sex offenders and for prostate cancer victims (blocking testosterone is the treatment of last hope for prostate cancer).

Attitudes such as yours is what gives Catholicism a bad name.
