does anyone know anything about this guy? apparently he is coming to one of the Parish to teach Catholics how to be better Catholics. i just dont know nothing about this guy. all i read is that he is a motivational speaker. what is this man doing in the Catholic Church?

Maybe you should ask the pastor what the parish is paying for this visit. Do you have the right to question these things?

I have read his book, Rediscovering Catholicism as well as listened to a couple of his CD’s. I enjoyed both and I highly recommend you attend. He is a great sense of humor and does a good job of discussing the faith in a practical manner.

Besides the “meet and greet”, this is my first reply. Your question about Matthew Kelly is what finally got me to join! So - we just had Matthew Kelly at four different parishes in our archdiocese. Yes, his “motivational speaking” does go in a business direction (that is what was referenced in the previous link) and apparently that is much, much more expensive that the fee charged to parishes!! But the part I know of him is in regard to the Church. His talks are some of those featured in the Lighthouse Catholic Media CDs from St. Joseph Communications. I really can’t say enough about Matthew Kelly - he loves his Catholic faith and wants to see all Catholics embrace their faith and wake up the “sleeping giant”! I would suggest you check out www.dynamiccatholic.com. It is still in the building stage (a beta -?- site) but you’ll get a real sense of his desire for the Church. Check it out! And then if you have the chance to go hear him speak, DO!

I’m coming in late here - but I HIGHLY recommend him. He’s got a good message.

I first heard him through the CDs I received from Catholic Lighthouse Media and then was fortunate enough to attend a conference where it was him and Scott Hahn!

What a strange question! You admit you know nothing about him and then demand to know “what [he is] doing in the Catholic Church?”

Doesn’t charity demand that you presume he is doing precisely what we are ALL supposed to be doing? Namely proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ according to the call he’s received and the gifts he was given? How is that a bad thing??
