in a bible study, somebody asked about the story of the landlord and the tenants, and he said since the landlord leased the vineyard why is he asking for produce? because we know from the story that he leased the vineyard and he is not in title for the produce.

I think that it describes a tenant farmer arrangement where they were given the use of the vineyard and owed the landlord a portion of the crop in payment.
