Matthew 5:18 says:
“Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place.”
Exodus 21:23-25 states:
“But if injury ensues, you shall give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.”
Yet Matthew 5:38-39 says:
“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, offer no resistance to one whoe is evil. When someone strikes you on your right cheek, turn the other one to him as well.”
Can someone explain this please?
