He was a great actor. By coincidence, he came up in our conversation just last night when my husband and I got to talking about films and actors. Then this morning, my husband saw the news of his passing.

May he rest in peace.

He was a legend. Rest in peace! ‘The Hour of the Wolf’ is one of my favorite horror movies. ‘The Magician’ is also very good. Really he was a stand-out in everything he did (and he did a lot).

Rest in peace. Great actor. Pelle the Conqueror is a great role of his, among many other great roles.

I will always love his role as Jesus in “The Greatest Story Ever Told” and as Father Merrin in “The Exorcist.” A movie that has deep theological themes never seems complete without Max Von Sydow.

He just wanted to play some more chess. RIP, Mr. von Sydow.

I think he was in a movie with Julie Andrews called
Hawaii or The Hawaiians. It was really good.

Apart from his terrific role in Ingmar Bergman’s acclaimed “Wild Strawberries,” I remember Max Von Sydow in the Woody Allen film, “Hannah and her Sisters.” A great actor! RIP

I remember seeing one of his later films and wondering how come he hadn’t changed much from The Exorcist. I learned he was in only in his 40’s or so when he played Father Merrin, they had aged him with makeup.

I hope this doesn’t sound too sensitive, but I’ve been thinking about checking out the 1985 TV movie Kojak: The Belarus File. Yes, it has Telly Savalas. Yes, it’s related to the original Kojak TV series that ran on CBS from 1973 to 1978. However, Kojak: The Belarus File also has Max von Sydow. To find out about the telefilm, check out the following links:

May Max von Sydow rest in peace.
