Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today’s Gospel is taken from the same Chapter 14, as yesterday but we are listening also to the beginning verses 1-7 which were not included yesterday. These words are always so good for us to hear – but especially experiencing Covid -19, and today traditionally for honoring Mothers. Some countries choose another date but the Second Sunday in May is Mother’s Day for the USA.

The Gospel is truly the “Good News” of Jesus and we hear Him say to us all, as He said to His Disciples the night before He died:
…“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in Me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to Myself, so that where I am you also may be. Where I am going you know the way.”

Thomas said to him, “Master, we do not know where You are going;
how can we know the way?”

Jesus said to him, "I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you know Me, then you will also know My Father… (John 14: 1-7)
Having Supernatural Faith given by God at Baptism, we need to use His gift whenever we are tempted to “let our hearts be troubled” whether it is troubled over our elderly mothers, so vulnerable and perhaps some having died recently or if we’re troubled over finances if we are out of work, or troubled about our children – whatever begins to “trouble our hearts” – Jesus is sharing His Way, His Truth, and His Life – as Gifts to us.

Jesus goes even further and says, “If you know Me then you will also know My Father”. Jesus Who Is the Truth never lies but satan is a liar from the beginning so we need to be careful to listen carefully to all Jesus says if we are to follow His Way and live His Life. We either flee satan and his lies or let troubles increase in our hearts.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your Faithul. Jesus living in Mary, live in us! Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us.

Jesus came that we might have LIfe in Him, and when He ascended into heaven, He had already told His disciples (and us) “Behold your Mother” so all can see the perfection of one Who followed His Way, His Truth and lived His Life so perfectly. Still He gives us more by sending His Holy Spirit with power on High to guide His Church into the fullness of Truth until the end of time. Mary is the “Mother of the Church” and under that title we honor her the Monday after Pentecost, as well as on this Mother’s Day with our love and gratitude.

Let us rejoice in the Good News we hear today, with faith in Jesus and in all His words and deeds revealed in Scripture. Let us pray for and encourage all Mothers on earth, and pray for those who’ve gone to be with the Lord, and all who are in most need of His Mercy.

Dear QuietTrad,

Thanks so much for your “heart” and for the lovely picture of Mary and Her little Son, Jesus. Yes, we all owe Our Blessed Mother Mary and all our “Birth Mothers” so much! God created every woman In love for love, especially love for children – some are spiritual Mothers, and some are physical Mothers and some are both! Besides being forever grateful to my Mother, I also think of many of the Religious Sisters and lay teachers I’ve known in my childhood and I have very fond memories of them too.

It is also good as, you wrote, to pray for those who may have or have had, in the past, a difficult relationship with their mothers; and for mothers whose children have been difficult too.

May God fill our hearts with love for all His children, as Jesus has told us:
“This is My commandment: that you love one another as I have loved you!”

Dear Stephie,

Thanks for your “heart” to let us know you read and appreciate God’s Word and His Love for us and His love in giving us Mary to be our Mother to help us grow closer to Him. As I just wrote to QuietTrad, I believe God created women in Love, for love - especially for children.

We owe so much to Mary our Heavenly Mother, and all our earthly Mothers, all our Godmothers and women-friends who’ve blessed us in so many ways. Thanks Stephie for all the encouragement you give me and others on CAF.

Dear MMonica,

Thanks for your “heart” which encourages me and others that you read this thread in your love for Jesus through Mary. Your avatar confirms that thought also 🙂 May we all grow more and more like our Mother Mary, that we may grow closer and closer to Jesus!

Thanks, tweedlealice!

Yes, let us rejoice in Him Who has loved us, and let us love Him “with our whole hearts and souls, and minds, and strength and our neighbor as ourselves” – in return.

Especially with Mary’s heart let us listen and ponder Jesus’ words:
“This is My Commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you!
(Jn 15:12)
It is not always “easy” but as St. Therese of Lisieux discovered: “Love is the willingness to suffer”. Jesus knew the suffering He would endure for our sakes, yet He told the disciples at the last supper – He truly longed to eat the Passover with them before He suffered. It was Love that took Him to the cross and it is only in loving Him that we too will find all our joy: God is Love!

AMEN! Did you know, St. Theresa Liseaux was uncomfortable w the Rosary? I, too, had difficulty w it. One time, in HS, I got detention. We had to say the Risary. Maybe that’s why? I’m conquering it now. It is a sword that cuts through evil.
I have loved you w sn everlasting love.
I have called you& you are mine.
JEREMIAH 31:3 &. PSALM 24:3.

Thanks again, tweedlealice.

Don’t remember reading that St. Therese was “uncomfortable” with the Rosary. When you have a chance, let me know where you read that, please. Thanks.
