Dear Brothers and Sisters,

How important this appariton of Our Lady is – and especially at this particular time! I hope many will watch the EWTN program at 1:30 EST ( 30 min) today on the "Message of Fatima - The First Apparition.

This post is not about the video, but I mention it in case some reading this thread may want to know more than I can write within the word-limit on CAF. If you have questions, however, I’ll do my best to reply. What I want to write in honor of Mary our Mother is from the optional Memorial Mass for today 's Feast Day. For Mass Readings, see HERE.

First Reading:
Thus says the LORD:
Their descendants shall be renowned among the nations,
and their offspring among the peoples;
All who see them shall acknowledge them
as a race the LORD has blessed.

I rejoice heartily in the LORD,
in my God is the joy of my soul;
For He has clothed me with a robe of salvation,
and wrapped me in a mantle of justice,
Like a bridegroom adorned with a diadem,
like a bride bedecked with her jewels.

As the earth brings forth its plants,
and a garden makes its growth spring up,
So will the Lord GOD make justice and praise
spring up before all the nations. (Isaiah 61: 9 - 11)
Are we not reminded of Mary’s words to Elizabeth (Lk 1: 46 - 55):
“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior"
Responsorial Psalm - taken from Psalm 45 mentions both Bridegroom and Bride - (Jesus and Mary will show to all God’s true justice and praise)

Alleluia verse: Blessed are you, holy Virgin Mary, deserving of all praise; from you rose the sun of justice, Christ our God.

Gospel:
While Jesus was speaking,
a woman from the crowd called out and said to him,
"Blessed is the womb that carried you
and the breasts at which you nursed."
He replied, "Rather, blessed are those
who hear the word of God and observe it."
(Lk 11:27 - 28)
Yes, Mary is blessed in giving Birth to Jesus by the Power of the Holy Spirit but even more is she blessed for her words and actions: “…Be it done to me…” Mary listened to God’s Word sent through the Angel Gabriel and she gave her all to doing the Truth she heard. God worked truly through Mary and He continues to work through her today sending grace through her and blessing those who listen and do the Truth Jesus speaks: “Behold your Mother” and learn to follow Him as perfectly as Mary.

Certainly there is so much more to ponder today. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful. Kindle in us the Fire of Your Love. O Jesus, living in Mary, come and live in us!

Dear Greenfields,

Thanks so much for your reply! Hope you are able to watch the program at 1:3O today!
May we all be blessed on this special anniversary of Mary’s coming to entrust her message to 3 little Shepherd children!

Thanks, CF, for your reply.

Yes, I’m happy you posted the link to your message as well – I had seen that offer earlier, but not sure I’ll be able to attend. It also is a beautiful opportunity for families to pray together, in honor of Jesus through Mary!

Thanks QuietTrad,

Yes we can all rejoice in the Love Mary has for us as her children, given to her by Jesus from His Cross. Let us all thank her, and with her, thank Jesus. We can never thank them enough – for so much has been given to us!

Dear Katie,

Thanks so much for your reply and this lovely picture and prayer. How good it is to be Mary’s child and through her to be sisters of Jesus and adopted daughters of the Father.
Everyone needs a family to love and a family who loves them.

Dear hazcompat,

Thanks so much for your reply, and for loving our Mother in such a special way.

Thank you dear Maria Christie.
It is such a gift that Our Lady of Fatima spells out for us Reparation to Jesus as well as shows us how to pray for all.

Dear CF_Mathews,

Thanks again for your addition to your post. So glad you added it!

Dear Katie,

Thanks again! Yes, Mary our Mother wants ALL her children to draw closer to Jesus and away from sin! Mary knows that God will hear our prayers for He too desires ALL to be saved, and so we, as God’s Family, need to pray for one another and build up the Body of Christ, His Church, to be HIs Light to the World.

We also by God’s Grace, need to strive within our own souls, to grow in holiness, practicing what we preach! How fervently do each of us pray the Rosary? How often do we neglect to pray? Do we pray with attention and devotion or simply rattle off words as fast as we can? The little shepherd children of Fatima truly sought to please God and Our Lady.

By God’s Grace may we turn and become like docile children who love God our Father and Mother our Mother, so much we do not want to do anything that would offend them. May this Month of Mary find us better at the end of the Month than we were at the beginning.

It is beautiful to note that this year Pentecost is on May 31 the last day of this month and the Feast of Mary Mother of the Church will be celebrated on the Monday after Pentecost-- which this year is on June 1st – the first day of the Month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Only begotten Son of God who became incarnate by the Holy Spirit, in the womb of His Mother. Let us continue in this month of May to offer reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and in June continue a month of special reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Beautiful message for this important day! Thank you so much for letting us know before it got away from us… Prayers for you today!!!

St Jacinta’s words before she died:
‘If men knew what eternity is, they would do everything to change their lives.’

Let us pray through the 2 hearts entwined on that special day.

Dear QuietTrad,

Thanks and Yes, the little shepherds were confident in their faith, believing what Our Lady told them. The Lord Jesus Himself told His disciples in Matthew’s Gospel and tells us:
"At that time the disciples approached Jesus and said, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” He called a child over, placed it in their midst, and said, “Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me. (Mt 18 :1-5)
The 3 children listened to Mary, they believed, and they did the Truth they heard. So must we!

Thanks dear Dan_Defender,

Your quoting of Jacinta’s words reminded me of these verses in Mt 21:
When the chief priests and the scribes saw the wondrous things He was doing, and the children crying out in the temple area, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant and said to Him, “Do you hear what they are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes; and have you never read the text, ‘Out of the mouths of infants and nurslings you have brought forth praise’?”
Jesus quoted Psalm 8:2-3:
O LORD, our Lord, how awesome is Your name through all the earth! I will sing of your majesty above the heavens with the mouths of babes and infants. You have established a bulwark against your foes, to silence enemy and avenger.
Yes, God gives wisdom to the humble, to His “little ones” like Jacinta who spoke His Truth as He gave it to her through Mary.
