Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today’s Gospel continues Jesus words spoken to His disciples at the Last Supper:

Gospel JN 14:15-21

Jesus said to his disciples:
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
And I will ask the Father,
and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always,
the Spirit of truth
, whom the world cannot accept,
because it neither sees nor knows him.
But you know him, because he remains with you,
and will be in you.
I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
In a little while the world will no longer see me,
but you will see me, because I live and you will live.
On that day you will realize that I am in my Father
and you are in me and I in you.
Whoever has my commandments and observes them
is the one who loves me.
And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father,
and I will love him and reveal myself to him.”
What encouraging words for us to hear! Let us listen to them with Mary’s faithful and humble heart , and ponder them with her. Let us continue to remember the little shepherd children of Fatima and their willingness to believe her words to them.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful; kindle in us the Fire of Your Love.
O Jesus, living in Mary, come and live in Your servants, in the spirit of Your holiness, in the fullness of Your power, in the perfection of Your ways, in the truth of Your virtues, in the communion of Your mysteries. Rule over every adverse power, in Your Spirit, for the glory of the Father. Amen.

Dear Stephie,

Thanks for your faith-full and loving heart! Hopefully these were encouraging words from Jesus to you and to many others, in today’s Gospel.

Our Bishop gave parishes the “go ahead” for public Masses on Sundays to begin today and it was such a blessing for us! It was carefully planned by the Pastor and staff for the greatest safety for all and I think they did a good job.

Being physically present to participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and to receive Jesus in Holy Communion was such proof of the Lord’s words:
"I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you!"
Not being able to receive Him in the Eucharist was difficult. I had been content to participate in Live-streamed Masses and “Spiritual Communion” but that can never be the same as actually being physically with Him and Mary to offer myself with them on Calvary and to receive the Resurrected Jesus in the Transformed bread and wine become His Body and Blood.

Hope your Bishop has given your Diocese this permission to open up Churches for Masses today, and you will be able to receive Jesus. I hope we also continue praying that God will enable us to learn what we need to learn from this time of Covid 19 – and what still needs to be learned and to be done. This pandemic may be likened to the Fatima Apparitions – as Mary’s 6 Apparions have been called : “an ongoing prophesy”.

he prayer of three children changed the world!

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

On May 13, 2020, Catholics celebrated the feast of Our Lady of Fatima, to commemorate the first apparition of the Virgin Mary to three young Portuguese shepherds in 1917. The Church has learned many lessons from them, especially this one:

We often say and believe that children can change the world. This is not because of their personal witness, or the influence that some can have on their peers, or their political influence, even though they can sometimes play a significant role in doing so. Their real power to change the world lies in three things: consoling God through prayer, converting sinners through sacrifice, and being faithful to Jesus with the help of Mary, by praying the Rosary.

The children of Fatima provide a good example of this: their Rosaries and other prayers stopped the spread of Communism, generations of Catholics began to offer sacrifices to God for others, and they gave rise to an unprecedented movement of Marian consecration throughout the world.

The feast of Our Lady of Fatima is now on the Church’s liturgical calendar to remind us that the children of Fatima’s mission on this earth is far from over.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Dear QuietTrade and Margaret_Ann,

Thank you also for your “hearts” which like the children at Fatima, are so willing to listen and do the Truth God reveals, through Mary our Mother!

Dear hazcompat,

Thanks for your reply. This year, The Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, on May 13th, has meant so much more to me than in previous years. Perhaps it is because the world seems in even greater need of her message than ever before!

It is the children’s example of humility and generosity and the strength of their faith in God that has impressed me in particular. St. Jacinta, St. Francisco (and dear Sister Lucia who will soon be given that tile of “saint”, I’m sure) please pray for us. Mary, Mother and Model for the Church, we entrust all your children into your Immaculate Heart that we may grow more and more like Jesus.

“O Jesus living in Mary, come and live in Your servants, in the spirit of Your holiness, in the fullness of Your power, in the perfection of Your ways, in the truth of Your virtues, in the communion of Your mysteries. Rule over every adverse power, in your Spirit, for the glory of the Father. Amen.” (Prayer of Fr. Olier)
