Hello.
By searching old Ask an Apologist threads, it is my understanding that it is permissible to attend Byzantine Catholic services (while fulfilling my Sunday obligation) and receiving communion.
I just read an answer from 2004 from Father Serpa. Perhaps I am reading too much into it, but I am unsure as to whether it is okay to receive communion at a Melkite service. I am not seeking to switch rites, but would certainly enjoy the experience of attending a rite of a church that is in communion with the Pope. The 2004 answer is as follows:
It is possible for a Catholic of the Latin Rite to become a member of one of the Eastern Rites, but only with the approval of the proper Church authorities.
