May I receive Communion tomorrow (Sunday) after saying a perfect Act of Contrition?

Hello,

I’m 17, and have been clean of the sin of masturbation for a couple weeks, and whenever I slip, I make sure to go to Confession, and the Churches in our area offer it on Saturdays. However, Saturday (tonight), while clean, I slipped after confessions were offered. I feel awful, but I don’t want to miss receiving the Eucharist tomorrow… because my priest/spiritual advisor (he’s in his late 70s) said that we, as Catholics, don’t only receive the Eucharist when we’re perfect, and said a perfect Act of Contrition, and vow to go to Confession ASAP, I may receive it. I want to confirm, is this true? because I read an article

That stated otherwise. Please answer me, I am very confused. Even if you don’t publish this answer, please at least message me an answer… I really need an answer.

Hi,

The seventy-year-old priest gave you an incorrect answer. If you are in danger of death and no priest is available, then try to make a perfect act of contrition; one in which you are sorry because you have offended God and not simply because you want to avoid hell. Of course, one can’t be sure that such a confessin is perfect. But it’s the best one can do under such circumstances.

In your case, you do need to go to Confession before receiving Holy Commuion. Otherwide, you commit a mortal sin of sacrilege… Ask a priest before Mass. I’ve heard many Confessions before or after Mass.
