I read a previous question “can one refuse to call a female clergy “Mother”?”
Can I refuse to call an Orthodox priest “father.” I often must deal with him but I am extremely uncomfortable calling him “father” because he has none of the characteristics of a priest. He dishonors the priesthood.
Besides not being Catholic, this particular priest doesn’t maintain the dignity of the priesthood. He publicly scorns the pope and all things Catholic. He is rude, promotes defamation of character and lying. He never acknowledges his wrong doing even when confronted with it. He doesn’t seem to show an ounce of Christian love.
I remember that the President of the USA called the Pope “Sir” and there was no hubbub about that.
What are my options?
