May I wear the brown scapular?

When I was in third grade in 1980-1981, I received a brown scapular with the rest of my first communion class. I am not sure if we received an indult, and if we did, I wouldn’t know if it was given by a priest or a layperson. I ceased wearing the scapular after a few weeks, and have not worn it since. Is it safe to assume that I received the indult and can resume wearing the scapular, or should I seek an indult anew?
