Maybe there is a woman who will show love and respect?

After years and years of being shown disrespect, and rejected in the marriage bed, might there be a woman out there that would show me the respect, honor and love that I try to bring to a failing marriage? I never thought of it this way before. I simply cannot allow myself to be treated like a fool any longer. She refuses MC.

Have you been seeing a therapist and your priest? And receiving appropriate medical care for yourself?

Don’t con yourself into thinking adultery is okay because you may be in a bad marriage. If the marriage is failing you are probably both responsible and should get help. Don’t fall into the secular media hype about “I deserve to be happy no matter the cost.”

I’m curious to know what you mean by disrespect? What exactly is the behavior you are saying is disrespectful?

Perhaps there is something within your marriage that you are reading the wrong way? The way you say it here, it sounds like a one sided coin, and there is no such thing as a one sided coin. Not saying you are the problem, only that this is not a single person problem, but a couples problem… and because of that I second the suggestion you seek counseling with your wife with a catholic marriage counselor. You are frustrated and in pain… that is all I can gather from your post but there nothing else I can glean from what you said here that could help anyone help you.

Sometimes a knot can get so tight we think the only way to salvage something is to cut it off, but there is an “undoer of knots”… (The Blessed Mother Mary) Do you pray the rosary?

What is MC?

You do realize that there are TWO people that make up a loving couple, right? Your wife certainly had every right to not engage in sex if she isn’t in the mood.**

MainBrain, I have followed your posts for a while and have come to a sad conclusion that You may be the larger part of the problem even if you do not see it that way. I don’t know if you have resolved your past problems or are actively working on them, but I do know that respect and love must be nurtured; it generally is not automatic. It sounds as if your wife has fallen out of love because of you past problems. If she won’t go to a m. c. then you must go even if you go alone. You should post often here; we do want to help and pray for you and your family. Peace.

If she won’t go, then go by yourself; it will still benefit you and the marriage.

Ditto.

This is so true.

Something men don’t seem to understand is that a woman has a need to be wooed, and it doesn’t stop when she says “I do.” So, speaking to all husbands out there, when is the last time you did something special for your wife, like take her out to dinner in the middle of the week? Tap her on the shoulder, turn her around and give her a “bending her over backwards” romantic kiss? Turn off the TV and get up off your butt to give her a hand with the dishes when you can see she’s exhausted?

Men who want love and respect from their wives should give them love and respect. It doesn’t take a lot of time and money, just some consideration on their part. When my husband makes the effort, he is far, far more likely to be getting a lot of “sugar” 😉 from me that night.
