CBS Has Reboot ‘MacGyver’ Series In The Pipeline

I don’t know, to me McG was a quintessentially 80s show. Otoh, a lot of potential viewers are probably unaware of the original series.

Not sure how he would function in the modern world. The old McG did gadgety stuff with duct tape and bailing wire. What is he going to do when bad guys use cell phones to set off bombs? Or will he be a hacker, using the villain’s own security system to trap him in his own home?

Even in a wired world, you still need physical hands making physical stuff to achieve physical results.

If the show comes back, I’ll sure try to watch it.

He had the distinct honor of having his name turned into a verb. During my years in the construction industry, we often “mcgyvered” assemblies together when we were faced with a custom project, or lacking the right parts for a job.

McGyver was played by Richard Dean Anderson, who later starred in the sci-fi series Stargate: SG-1, playing USAF Col. Jack O’Neill. In the first episode of the TV series he was brought back to the stargate a year or so after the events portrayed in the movie. USAF Major Samantha Carter, who had been on the project for some time, described a problem that they had and said that they had mcgyvered a solution. It’s been a while since I’ve seen the episode, but what I remember is that Anderson broke character and did an epic eye roll.
