I’m beginning a religious fast and one of the conditions is no snacks, would it be wrong then to have say four meals a day rather than the common three?
Assuming you are Latin Catholic and it’s not Ash Wednesday or Good Friday, your fast is a private devotion and there are no rules and you can fast any way you want.
I agree with @Tis_Bearself, it is your own making, but it seems odd that you would add a meal when you normally would have eaten 3. It sounds like you are just replacing a snack with a meal. And that seems opposite of fasting.
As others have said fasting is only required on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Any other fasting is private and up to you. Not sure I understand how there can be conditions on a private fasting.
