Hi, I’m trying to get my students to learn about the meaning behind some of our traditional prayers and I was wondering if any of you could list out some resources, whether a book, website, articles, etc. that we can use during class. Thanks.

Confirmation 1, Called to Be Catholic by Joe Paprocki, and the US, California.

Hmmmm, I am not familiar with that one and do not see it on the USCCB listing. You might ask your Diocese office of Faith Formation if there is a companion text on prayer.

I’d suggest you might want to read the section on Prayer in the Catechism, then pick up a copy of “The Prayer Primer” by Fr Dubay. It will give you a good foundation to speak about prayer, both formal prayer and other forms.

As Confirmation class has students who are able to read, I would give them homework! Ask them to find out where we get the words for the Ave Maria and the Our Father. Send them on a quest, it will get their hands into Scripture!!

Ah, that’s one of the Loyola University series, right? The author is brother of the Springfield Bishop Paprocki. There’s probably a reference section or ancillary that you can get ahold of for more resources.
