Meaning of Embolism

I keep seeing that term, embolism, used to describe the words of the priest between the Our Father and the Doxology at Mass. In my background embolism is a medical term where a clot or debris of some kind clogs up a vessel - not a good thing! I suspect there is a similar root to the word usage, but just don’t get it. Can someone explain?

Thanks Marty, it did help. Meaning is to throw or throw in, insert, hence to “throw a clot” or to “throw in” or “insert” a prayer in the Mass. The focus is on an active verb rather than the noun/object/predicate.

Modern Catholic Dictionary:

EMBOLISM. The prayer in the Canon of the Mass which begins, “Deliver us, Lord, form every evil,” inserted between the Our Father and the Breaking of the Bread. Many Eastern liturgies have a similar prayer. An embolism is also the difference of days in the calendar between the lunar year of 354 days and the solar year of 365¼ days, commonly known as the “epact.” (Etym. Greek emballein, to insert, intercalate.)
