I still do it. Does anyone else? Do you give up something else instead?

I do.

It seems that a lot of people on this forum do it but day to day it seems that most of the Catholics who I know don’t do it (outside of my own family, I only have 1 friend who does it) other than on Good Friday.

Me 🖐️
Maybe 5 or so times a year I will eat meat on a Friday and say a Rosary instead, but other than that, no meat on Friday’s. I’m a “Cradle Catholic”, so just grew up abstaining on Fridays…it’s what I’ve always done.

Been doing it for years, as much as I can. Though the First Friday in June, I had meat at dinner because I was in the hospital and didn’t have a lot of choice in meals (though in retrospect I could have requested a fish or vegetarian meal).

I also tend to have meat on the Friday of Thanksgiving week when I’m visiting my sister, who hasn’t practiced Catholicism since she was a kid. Turkey leftovers, of course, and requesting something non-meat would just be more work for her. I just skip dessert that day.

Yep, every Friday since birth, even during the fifteen years during which I was away from the Church. Old habits die hard.

I have done it too. I live in the UK where it is actually still mandatory.
