Sincerely,
Michael,
First of all, the person who reported me would not accept my responses when I first started to respond to the “Meat vs. Poultry” topic. I gave my opinion on the topic saying I don’t believe in that anymore and that I’m not a Catholic anymore (I’m a German Orthodox Christian) he wouldn’t accept that even for the first 2 or 3 posts. In my opinion he was judging me for my beliefs. From the second post I made in response to his or her, up to the last one, he kept harassing me on whatever I said. I don’t believe he/she should get away scott-free. He/she just got to me. Now you know why I no longer wanted to b a Catholic (among other things). I appreciate what you said. But, if this is the way I’m treated, for the other person edging me on to respond to what I said in last post, then what’s the use of even continuing on this site. He/she should be grateful I didn’t report him/her, I wanted to.

A basic understanding…

On a Friday a **warm blooded **person gave up His flesh for our sins.

Out of respect and honor we give up warm blooded flesh on Friday
in rememberance of

Jesus Christ and His sacrifice.

An apt quote and pertinent reference to the custom of abstaining from meat. I made the mistake of responding to an off-topic comment, but now understand the protocol. It was interesting to note that some people did not consider poultry as meat, and also of interest the way the definition of meat has so many varied interepretations. I think the idea of eliminating the requirement to abstain from meat on Fridays outside of Lent was to encourage us to do positive things as well, and voluntary abstention remains an excellent practice.
In Christ.

This is true outside of Lent only. During Lent, Catholic are still forbidden to abstain from meat on all Fridays in Lent as well as Ash Wednesday.

I go meatless on all Fridays.
RPP, I am certain that you meant to say Catholics are still required to abstain from meat, but I wanted to post the correction anyway, lest someone less informed misunderstand what the Church requires of us.

  :bigyikes:

THANK YOU for the correction.

Yes Catholic are REQUIRED to abstain from meat on Fridays during Lent; easting meat is FORBIDDEN during Fridays in Lent.
