One Western and one Eastern, one the most senior and the other the youngest, but both from Slovakia.

According to the page catholic-hierarchy.org/bishop/sordb2.html, Ján Chryzostom Cardinal Korec SJ is catholic bishop who has been serving for the longest time: nearly 62 and a half year.

Until June 2013 bishop Francis Hong Yong-ho (catholic-hierarchy.org/bishop/bhong.html) was considered to be possibly the longest serving bishop but because of his age and location it was questionable and his death was acknowledgen last year.

By the way, today it is Cardinal Korec’s 90th birthday.

The youngest Catholic bishop by age is vladyka Milan Lach SJ, auxiliary bishop of metropolitan archieparchy of Prešov, Slovakia. Here is his episcopal consecration: rtvs.sk/tv.programmes.detail/archive/4855?date=01.06.2013. As you can see here catholic-hierarchy.org/bishop/sage.html, Eastern hierarchs have a tendention to be young. 🙂
