I know we don’t do penance on Sundays and because of that I started wondering if we can meditate on the Passion on Sunday? I’m sorry if that’s a silly question! Can we pray the Sorrowful Mysteries / watch the Passion of the Christ movie etc.? Thanks!

🙂 Hi Monica, I don’t see why not, not only do I believe you can you do it on Sunday, but I believe you can meditate on Christ’s Passion whenever you like and it brings great joy to Christ and great benefit to your soul.

Jesus to St. Faustina -

**There is more merit to one hour of meditation on My sorrowful Passion than there is to a whole year of flagellation that draws blood; the contemplation of My painful wounds is of great profit to you, and it brings Me great joy. **(Diary, 369)

**I give great graces to souls who meditate devoutly on My Passion. **(Diary, 737)

Meditation on My passion will help you rise above all things. (Diary 1184)

…consider My Sorrowful Passion in all its immensity. Consider it as if it had been undertaken for your sake alone. (Diary 1761)

**You please Me most when you meditate on My Sorrowful Passion. **(Diary, 1512)

I hope this has helped

God Bless

Thank you for reading

Monica,

I do believe that on Sundays we are supposed to recite the sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary during Lent. That will change on Easter when the Glorius Mysteries are recited on Sunday.

Yes, I contemplate the passion and death of Jesus during Lent. Even the Epistles and the Gospels lead us in that direction. It is most appropriate.

God Bless 👍

The Sorrowful Mysteries of the Passion are also used for meditation on the Sundays during the season of Lent.
