When I recite the Sorrowful Mysteries or the Divine Mercy Chaplet, I try to meditate the events that had taken place during each announced mystery and what sins of mine are represented in the mystery.
For example, the First Mystery, the Agony in the Garden. What sins of impure or angry thoughts did I commit that caused such sorrow to Jesus? With Jesus finding the apostles asleep,how many times have I been distracted at Mass? With the apostles leaving Jesus alone, how often did I rush out after Mass and not thank Jesus?
The Third Mystery, Jesus being clothed in another’s garment, wearing immodest clothes; Jesus being crowned with a crown of thorns, how prideful am I? The crowd demanding Barabbas (who to me represents the world), how often have I preferred the secular world and not Christ?
Any thoughts on these mysteries or the other mysteries?
