The other eve. or night when I was meditating the thoughts of The Mother of God popped up and I had not intended to meditate about Mary, but that’s where my thoughts took me.
We don’t know a lot about Mary other than the few references mentioned in the New Testament. She is ‘The Mystery Woman of the Bible’ or New Testament. We know of the Annunciation, that she walked a long distance to visit with Elizabeth while pregnant. Fast forward to the birth to Jesus in a cave or manger. Then the silent years up until the time Mary and Joseph were searching for Jesus and found him in the Temple when he was about 12 yrs. old. Then again silence up until Jesus started His ministry around the age of thirty. We know a little about Mary as she was important at the Wedding at Can and that she and other women followed Jesus during His ministry of crucifixion and death. Not much is known thereafter.
That may seem like a lot, but what was going on during the silent years.? There are myths and some legends and some common sense to fill in the ‘vacant years,’ and I have left a few known know facts out, but doesn’t it make you think? I didn’t start out meditating about Mary but that’s where my thoughts went. Love to hear pros and cons on this as I am not an expert on this.

Interesting observations, MaryEstelle.

I sometimes wondered about those same parts of the life of Jesus/the Holy Family from birth to 12, from 12 to 30. Little is known, but I suppose it was a typical life for them, and yet, not.

I will be watching to see if anyone has anything to enlighten us with.

@Reuben_J, what do you think? 🙂

I’m reading The Divine Life of the Most Holy Virgin (from The Mystical City of God) Ven, Mary of Agreda. It is very interesting and fills in some of the gap. It’s condensed from a large 4-volume set, so I’m sure there is more. I still struggle with devotion to Mary, so I’m reading it with an open mind. Paraphrasing, Mary said the Church was so new that she did not want any attention on herself. The total focus had to be Jesus to establish the foundations of the Church.
